Welcome to The Finer Touch Massage Blog

Welcome! The intent of this page is your education, and my shameless self-promotion. Here you'll find answers to your massage questions. If yours isn't here, feel free to text me at (615) 609-4394 or email finertouchmassage@gmail.com, and I'll do my best to answer it. Before you send one, take a look to see if your question (or something like it) has already been asked.

I'll do my best to answer every question fairly and honestly, without intentional bias or prejudice. Please understand that the answers are based on my opinion and my experience as a massage therapist since 1996.

It's possible that God, Jesus and the Bible may show up in some answers. I won't apologize for that. It's what I believe.

And if I'm wrong, or my facts are off, please let me know. I'll publish a new post correcting the error and credit you with the assist.

Thanks in advance, and happy reading.

— Bill

So, I’ve been doing some of my own research on the craze called CBD oil. It seems that everywhere you look, someone is selling CBD this or CBD that to get rid of pain, inflammation, arthritis, cancer, acne, your ex..(just kidding..) But really, why all this excitement? Is there anything really to it? Well, what I have found out is… yes and no. Yes, there actually may be something to all the hype. Some studies have shown benefits such as a decrease in muscle soreness, decrease in inflammation (which coincidentally is also why some use the product to help with acne symptoms), decrease in pain associated with arthritis and cancer, and   alleviate insomnia to some degree. It does all this by binding to certain neurotransmitter receptor cites in the brain that are very similar to the CBD since the body already produces something almost the same as CBD chemically. Great news, right? Not so fast, buckwheat… The no side is there isn’t enough hard research out there to p...

How do I find the right massage therapist?

A reader asked how to find a good massage therapist. Thanks for asking! When you're looking for a good therapist, there are several questions to ask yourself first: Why are you looking? Muscle aches and pains? Trouble sleeping? Swelling? Where? Do you want to go somewhere, or would you rather have someone come to you? Who? Do you prefer a male or female therapist? How much pressure? Light, medium, or deeper work? Different therapists have different skill sets and different ability levels. Even someone with a great deal of experience isn't necessarily the right therapist for you. As for how to find one: Google reviews and Yelp help, but one of the best ways is to ask your friends. We all know word of mouth is the best advertising. When you find a therapist, make sure they're licensed and that their license is current. My Tennessee license number is 874. You can look up any therapist by name or license number on the Tennessee Department of Health's license v...
